INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES

 
From early engines dating over 100 years to present day state-of-the-art, we have experience in both petrol & diesel, 2-stroke & 4-stroke, naturally aspirated & super/turbocharged engines. We are able to offer anything from a minor service to a total rebuild or just supply parts.

 

 

 

 
Riva re-powering is now a straight forward operation with Peter Freebody & co, we offer in-house designed & hand built clockwise & counter-clockwise GM engines to replace worn out, corroded or unreliable engines. Utilising the very latest in technologies of machining, ignition & fuelling, being finished to a concourse condition with bright chrome & Crusader blue enamel they not only perform to modern day high power output & reliability expectations but look as original as the vessels’ original engine(s).

 

 
Ideal for more sedate vintage boating we can offer fully overhauled BMC Vedette, Navigator & Commodore engines in either side valve or OHV configuration, again, utilising technology to provide reliability.

 

 

 

 
For those requiring a more modern engine, there is our Ford crossflow option with a custom designed camshaft & dynamically balanced crankshaft to offer exceptionally smooth running at very low rpm.

 

 

 
STEAM ENGINEERING

 

We are no strangers to all builds of steam engines, be it single, compound or triple expansion to fire or water tube boilers, routine maintenance, plant installation or complete overhaul. 

 

 
Available brand new are the highly acclaimed ‘Beliss’ 12HP Thames compound engines, having produced drawings, patterns, castings & precision machined / painstakingly assembled all components they are reputedly some of the finest steam engines available today.

 

 

 

 

 
ELECTRIC PROPULSION

 
From shunt or series wound to permanent magnet we have experience of all variations on electric motor design, ranging from the very first ever built to the latest high efficiency types available.

 
Motor speed & direction can be provided by our in-house manufactured, microprocessor controlled multi-mode controller, which can also be retrofitted into an original surrounding & offers very high efficiency & performance.

 

 
Battery & charging equipment is available to suit each individual requirement.

 
Our electric propulsion systems can not only be fitted into new vessels but also installed to replace out-dated equipment or even engine installations.

We offer servicing, maintenance, repair & parts/equipment supply for all aspects & makes of electric propulsion equipment.

 

 
MACHINING & FABRICATION

 
Fittings, equipment & parts are often unobtainable to complement our vessels, in such instances we make them. From a simple cleat to a beautiful steering wheel, a navigation light to a complex engine component we can manufacture or repair just about anything.
